Elizabeth Quay: Where the city meets the water

Set along on the banks of the Swan River, Elizabeth Quay is a lively hub of waterfront dining, live entertainment and urban energy.

Take a stroll along the quay, where striking public art lines the walkways, black swans glide through the water and the occasional pod of dolphins make a surprise appearance.

Cross the footbridge to take in the sweeping city skyline, then settle in at a riverfront restaurant where the freshest local flavours meet stunning river vistas.

Feeling more adventurous? Hope aboard a boat tour and skim across Perth’s waterways, or dive into a calendar filled with music, markets and cultural celebrations.

From sunrise coffee by the water to golden-hour drinks with a view, Elizabeth Quay hums with life—whether you're a first-time visitor or a local seeing the city in a new light.

Reconnecting with the river

Once a place for picnics, paddling and riverside baths, Perth’s foreshore gradually slipped from reach as the city expanded, with Riverside Drive finally closing the gap in 1940. Now, Elizabeth Quay restores that lost link, blending history with modern city life. A place where waterfront dining meets public art, where ferries and boats glide by and where Perth’s riverfront is once again a place to gather, explore, and enjoy.

Discover Derbarl Yerrigan

Unplug and explore Perth’s stunning Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River). Drift past quiet inlets where bottlenose dolphins surface in the stillness. Follow the river upstream to WA’s oldest wine region, where vineyards line the banks and cellar doors offer handcrafted wines and local produce. Or head downstream towards Fremantle, where the river meets the sea. Out here, reef systems thrive, ospreys circle overhead, and Australian sea lions bask on rocks.Take it all in as golden light reflects off the water and the sun sinks into the Indian Ocean.

Accessibility

Roads and Pathways

Elizabeth Quay’s cobblestone paving is rougher on the internal roads, helping to slow traffic and provide a tactile demarcation for visually impaired visitors between roads and pedestrian pavements.

There's a number of crossing points at the quay where smoother pedestrian grade granite gives a continuous accessible pathway to pedestrians, wheelchair users and people pushing prams.

Ramps are available at various locations providing access between the promenades and tiered decking on the landing.

The bridge is also accessible by wheelchair.

Accessible Toilets

Accessible toilets are available at all public toilet facilities which are located at Barrack Street Jetty, the Island and opposite BHP Water Park.

Changing Places

Elizabeth Quay is home to WA's first Changing Places facility. This fully accredited changing facility is for people who can’t use a standard universal accessible toilet and might need assistance or specialist bathroom equipment.

The Changing Places facility is located in the same building as Oyster Bar, right next to BHP Water Park. It has an adult-sized height-adjustable change table, tracking hoist system, extra space for carers or wheelchairs and a centrally placed toilet.

You will need your own MLAK key to access the facility. Keys are available from Master Locksmiths Association of Australasia.

Accessible Parking

Short term ACROD bays are available on The Esplanade, Riverside Drive and Geoffrey Bolton Avenue.

The location of longer term, off street ACROD bays in the Perth CBD is available on the Department of Transport map. Visit City of Perth Parking or Wilson Parking for address and entry details, rates, opening hours and available bays at these carparks.

Taxis and Drop Off Points

The safest place to pick up and drop off passengers is at Barrack Street Jetty.

Taxi ranks are located at Barrack Street Jetty and Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. There are also ranks on nearby streets (north towards the city) at William Street (near the Hay Street Mall), Wesley Church (Hay Street) and London Court (St George’s Terrace).

Seeing Eye Dogs

Seeing Eye Dogs and other dogs are welcome at the quay.

Disability Access and Inclusion Plan

Our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan outlines what we are doing to improve access to our services, facilities, information and employment for people with disability, in accordance with the Disability Services Act 1993.

Boat

The inlet is home to twenty-four short stay boat moorings for public use.

To enter the inlet, recreational boats must be able to pass under the pedestrian bridge. The bridge provides a clearance of 4.5m off the water which will allow most 12m and 10m boats with a flybridge into the inlet at all stages of the tide.

The 18 short stay moorings are available to the public for stays of three hours or less. Visitors should be aware that the availability of the short stay berths may be affected by water based events.

Ten swing moorings are available outside the inlet opening to accommodate larger vessels.

For more information on recreational boating in Perth waters visit the Department of Transport.

Parking

You can find a limited number of paid parking bays on Enchantress Way, Duchess Way and Barrack Street Jetty which are available for 15 minutes and one hour for motorcycles and ACROD. However, these bays may be unavailable if building construction is taking place and adjoining lots.

If you need more time at Elizabeth Quay you can find longer parking options just a short distance away. Visit City of Perth Parking (CPP) or Wilson Parking (WP) for locations, rates, opening hours and available bays.
