Stage 1: Transforming Geraldton’s foreshore

Completed in March 2000, Batavia Coast Marina Stage 1 (BCM1) has revitalised the Geraldton foreshore, creating vibrant waterfront promenades and boardwalks that seamlessly connect the city to the coast.

The redevelopment delivered 10 mixed-use residential and commercial lots, the Western Australian Museum Mid-West Gallery, and a hotel site, laying the foundation for a thriving waterfront precinct.

BCM1 was delivered alongside the City of Greater Geraldton’s Foreshore Redevelopment, further enhancing the area’s appeal.

DevelopmentWA managed Stage 1 on behalf of the Batavia Coast Marina Steering Committee, with the Mid-West Development Commission (MWDC) as the project proponent.

Stage 2: Connecting Geraldton’s city centre and waterfront

Batavia Coast Marina Stage 2 (BCM2) is transforming six hectares of land—previously owned by the City of Greater Geraldton, Mid West Development Commission, Public Transport Authority of WA, and DevelopmentWA—into a dynamic precinct that will seamlessly link the Geraldton CBD with the Batavia Coast Marina waterfront.

Once complete, Stage 2 will create a vibrant new hub, delivering residential, commercial, retail, and tourism opportunities, all set within landscaped public spaces designed to enhance connectivity and liveability.

The BCM Stage 2 Steering Committee, comprising DevelopmentWA, the City of Greater Geraldton, and the Mid West Development Commission, is leading the development.

The second phase of BCM2 is a future development area located north of Bayley Street, between Stella Maris Drive and Chapman Road. Further planning will shape this precinct’s role in Geraldton’s evolving cityscape.
