Wildflower Garden
A celebration of Western Australia’s extraordinary flora, the wildflower garden brings the colours and textures of native plants into the heart of Perth.
Tucked away in the Yagan Square Amphitheatre, the wildflower garden showcases a changing display of seasonal wildflowers, alongside iconic species such as eucalyptus, peppermint trees and the balga—the ‘tree of life.’ Used by Noongar people for centuries in medicine, food, shelter and traditional smoking ceremonies, the balga is a powerful symbol of resilience and connection to Country.
Designed to evolve with the seasons, the garden bursts into colour during spring with a spectacular wildflower bloom, while other native species provide interest throughout the year. The plantings reflect the site’s cultural significance, incorporating species that hold deep connections to Aboriginal stories.
