Waterbank - Overview
A revitalised gateway to the city
The Riverside Redevelopment Area sits across 40ha of land which includes Trinity College, Queens Gardens, the West Australian Cricket Association (WACA), Gloucester Park and the banks of the Swan River. Waterbank is a 6.6ha site located between the Causeway Bridge and Trinity College.
A substantial amount of geotechnical stabilisation works have occurred to remediate the reclaimed land, with further work required to redevelop the mix of government and privately-owned land throughout this area.

Landscaping works have commenced
Interim landscaping works at the Waterbank site, which commenced in May, are progressing.
While plans for a major redevelopment are currently on hold, DevelopmentWA and Lendlease are progressing with interim works to restore and activate the area – keeping it safe, accessible, and beneficial for the community while its long-term future is considered.
Lendlease has appointed landscape contractor Landscape Elements to deliver the temporary landscaping. The contractor is now onsite, with full completion of works anticipated in early 2026.
These landscaping works include:
- New temporary playing fields
- Native landscaping
- Footpaths, lighting, CCTV and verge upgrades
To allow installation of new footpaths, access to the riverside footpath will be closed from 15 September 2025 to 5 December 2025. Warning and detour signage will be in place.
