Laverton - Overview
Laverton is as famous for its gold rush as it is for welcoming tourists into the heart of the great Australian outback.
Since the discovery of gold, which put this remote Eastern Goldfields town on the world map at the turn of the last century, Laverton has played an important role in the growth of Western Australia.
The colourful Eastern Goldfields town 957km north-east of Perth is a popular tourist attraction and the gateway into the red desert centre of Australia. It is the westernmost town on the proposed Outback Highway running through the Northern Territory to Winton in outback Queensland. Laverton continues to produce gold and nickel and the town offers strong employment opportunities.
